Case study – Transport & Infrastructure application
The Grand Paris project is one of the largest infrastructure worksites in Europe. In this context, MITEL, a major player in the integration of communication solutions, was commissioned to modernise the communication systems in metro stations.
The challenge was significant: replace and improve the reliability of existing equipment to meet the new safety, reliability and interoperability standards inherent to a modern public transport network. It was for this expertise in critical environments that MITEL called on A2S.
The main mission was to guarantee an efficient and secure communication service within the stations. The equipment had to meet two requirements:
Deployment in metro stations imposes severe technical and environmental constraints that the solution had to overcome:
The equipment is exposed to high humidity, dust (metal brake particles) and constant temperature variations.
Located in heavily frequented public areas, the units had to be protected against deliberate damage and unauthorised access.
The equipment had to comply with specific colour codes to blend harmoniously into each station.
The new solution had to be compatible with the analogue infrastructures already in place to avoid a complete overhaul of the cabling.
After analysing the constraints, A2S recommended and deployed the Induphone Analogue model, a proven solution for industrial and underground environments.
In total, 100 communication stations were deployed, at a rate of 4 to 5 units per station, to cover the entire assigned perimeter.
A design compliant with ingress protection (IP) ratings, ensuring total resistance to humidity, splashes and dust.
Each unit is integrated into a reinforced enclosure fitted with a lockable door with a security lock, preventing access to internal components.
A technology perfectly suited to the existing network, making it easier to interface with MITEL’s overall system.
1) Aesthetic customisation station by station
A2S adapted the finish and colours of the phones to comply with each station’s architectural guidelines, ensuring perfect visual integration.
2) A rigorous validation phase
A prototype was developed and then tested by MITEL to validate sealing and robustness before deployment.
3) Guaranteed service continuity
Native compatibility with the existing infrastructure enabled a smooth transition, without major interruption.
